Attendance you can trust, without the sign sheet

AttendSys is an attendance platform built for Nigerian universities. Students check in from the lecture venue, lecturers watch attendance build in real time, and administrators get records they can rely on.

The problem

Paper sign sheets are slow to collect and easy to fake. Friends sign for each other, names are added after the lecture, and lecturers and administrators have no reliable view of who actually attended. Disputes are hard to settle because there is no trustworthy record.

How it works

  1. The lecturer starts a session from the lecturer dashboard. A time-limited QR code appears.
  2. Students scan the code with the AttendSys student app on their own phone.
  3. The system checks the student’s registered device, their GPS position against the lecture venue, the time window and the QR code.
  4. Valid check-ins are recorded immediately. Suspicious ones are flagged for the lecturer to review.
  5. Lecturers see live counts during the session, and administrators can report across courses and semesters.

Features

Venue-based check-in

A check-in is accepted only from within the lecture venue’s set radius, using the student’s phone location.

One account, one device

Each student account is tied to one registered device, which closes the most common route for signing in on someone else’s behalf.

Time-limited QR codes

Codes expire and are refreshed during a session, and each check-in must fall inside the lecture’s time window.

Live lecturer dashboard

Present, flagged and rejected counts update during the session, with a summary when it ends.

Administration tools

Enrol students and lecturers one by one or in bulk, manage course schedules, and export attendance reports.

Role-based access

Students, lecturers and administrators each see only what their role needs, and database access is limited by role.

Your data

AttendSys collects only what is needed to record attendance: identity details supplied by the institution, the registered device, and the location and time of each check-in. In most deployments the university is responsible for the data and AttendSys processes it on the university’s behalf. We design and operate the service with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 in mind. Read the full Privacy Policy.

For universities

We are working with universities on pilot programmes. A pilot covers a defined faculty or department for one semester, with onboarding support for lecturers and administrative staff, and a review at the end. If your institution would like to take part, get in touch.
